Despite the fact we are still experiencing Summer Games withdrawal, here at Roadtrips we are looking forward to all the fantastic tournaments, championships, and races to come. Here’s our ultimate 2017 Sports Events Bucket List to act as travel inspiration, and get you thinking about the trips you could take with us next year.
The Super Bowl, Houston, TX, February 2nd – 6th. For football fans there is no bigger event on the NFL calendar, and after an incredible Super Bowl last year, we truly cannot wait to see what happens at next year’s epic showdown. Houston is a fantastic city to visit, and we’re lining up some exceptional experiences for our Super Bowl guests next year.
Monaco Grand Prix, Monte Carlo, May 25th – 29th. Heading to Monte Carlo every year for the Grand Prix is always a thrill for the Roadtrips team. There’s no other event in the world this glamorous and cool to attend. Seeing those fine F1 cars speed through the streets of historic Monaco is awe-inspiring, and the events around the race are always thrilling. In Monaco you get to hob-nob with stars and royalty, and experience some of the finest racing you’ll ever see anywhere.
French Open, Paris, France, May 28th – June 11th. Known as the toughest tournament in tennis, the clay courts of Roland Garros Stadium can be brutal but players love conquering them (check out this awesome video from CNN where players talk about their love of this event). Visiting Paris is always a wonderful experience, whether you’d be going as a first timer or have been many times before.
America’s Cup, Bermuda, June. This will be the first time that the pinnacle of international sailing has come to Bermuda, and the Islands are an excellent fit for this event because the weather is pretty much always perfect for sailing. Couple that with the fact that Bermuda is a superb luxury destination full of charm and sophistication, and you have a recipe for the ultimate sports-centered vacation.
Champions League Final, Cardiff, Wales, June 2nd – 4th. Did you know that this is the most watching annual sporting event in the world? 300 million soccer fans tuned in to watch last year, because watching the very best of Europe’s teams battle it out on the pitch is epic – and getting to see it played out live in front of you? Amazing. Plus, Wales is such a glorious country full of castles, legends, and dramatic countryside.
Wimbledon, London, England, July 3rd – 16th. We love Wimbledon. Not only for the amazing tennis, and getting to watch the very best in the world playing in front of British royalty, but also because of the atmosphere and history that comes with this event. If you go, you’d be seriously missing out on a signature cultural experience if you didn’t order up a bowl of strawberries and cream, or a glass of Pimms.
This is just a sample of the events we’ll be taking guests to in 2017. For a full listing, check out our events calendar, or get in touch to talk about the major sports events on your personal bucket list.
