The Ultimate Indianapolis 500 Itinerary

The running of the Indianapolis 500 is one of the most exciting and most prestigious auto races in the world, and for the devoted racing fan, nothing can top the exhilaration of witnessing the thrill of it all in person at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

As the world’s largest spectator sporting venue, the Speedway is always buzzing with excitement from the first start of the engines to the presentation of the illustrious Borg-Warner trophy. This two-and-a-half mile track plays host to 33 of racing’s most daring drivers who will test their mettle through 200 laps to see who will claim the checkered flag. This perennial favorite event is always thrilling and shows you why the Indy 500 is referred to as The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

Indianapolis has been recognized for its incredible downtown atmosphere where visitors and locals alike are drawn to its diverse amenities and attractions, including shopping, dining, entertainment and sports venues, galleries and museums.

Below you will find a suggested sample itinerary, please remember that we will completely customize your itinerary based on your tastes, desires and budget.

Day 1 – Thursday, May 25, 2023conrad indianapolis
Today you arrive in Indianapolis for the 2023 Indianapolis 500! Upon arrival at the airport you will be met by your personal chauffeur and transported to The Conrad Indianapolis Hotel, your luxurious home for the next four nights. Offering an unparalleled sense of luxury and comfort, the Conrad Indianapolis rests ideally in the heart of the city.

After you have checked-in and freshened up from your travels, you will be met by your Roadtrips Onsite Host for a welcome drink to review your personalized itinerary and the opportunity to ask your host any questions or make any requests.

This evening we suggest having dinner at one of the finest restaurants in Indianapolis, St. Elmo Steakhouse. Conveniently located a few minutes’ walk from your hotel, St. Elmo is Indianapolis’ oldest and best-known steakhouse, and has earned a reputation for superior steak, seafood and professional service.

Day 2 – Friday, May 26, 2023carb day
Enjoy breakfast at your leisure before making your way to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Miller Lite Carb Day! Today you will take in a full day at the track and have the opportunity to see the Indy 500 practice, the Freedom 100, the Pit Stop Team Challenge! You can also use your passes to visit the Hall of Fame Museum which has on display an incredible collection of auto racing memorabilia and automobiles, including the Marmon “Wasp” which won the inaugural Indianapolis 500 in 1911.

This evening your chauffeur will meet you in the lobby and transport you to Meridian Restaurant and Bar. With views of the historic homes along Meridian Street and of the peaceful green space of Alice Carter Park, Meridian is unparalleled in its combination of wonderful food, gracious service and its unique and comfortable surroundings. After enjoying dinner, your chauffeur will be ready and waiting to return you to your hotel.

Day 3 – Saturday, May 27, 2023
In anticipation of tomorrow’s race, today you have the option to either enjoy the excitement of the Indy 500 Festival Parade, or to head over to the Speedway for Legends Day.

Each year over 300,000 spectators line the streets of Indianapolis for the spectacle that is the Indy 500 Festival Parade. Upon arrival at the parade route, you can make your way to your reserved seats so you have a great view of the celebrities, marching bands, floats and all 33 drivers who will fill the streets to celebrate the big race.

If you just cannot get enough of the Speedway, you can take part in another Indy tradition, Legends Day. The day begins with an autograph session with all 33 drivers in the starting field. From there, drivers make their way trackside to receive awards and final instructions from race control. As drivers depart the track for the parade, the off-track festivities will continue for the fans. From a memorabilia show, to the vintage racecar display, to the autograph sessions with legendary drivers, there will be no shortage of excitement for the ultimate Indy racing fans.

Day 4 – Sunday, May 28, 2023indy 500 fans
Today is the day you have been waiting for; let’s get ready to race! This morning you will meet your Roadtrips Host for transportation to the Speedway via Roadtrips dedicated luxury motorcoach. On arrival at the track you will have time to take advantage of your Pre-Race Pit Passes and enjoy getting up close to the pits with the drivers, pit crews and the cars right up until race time – nothing gets you closer to the excitement! Once you’ve taken in the sights, make your way to your Penthouse seats, which provide one of the best and most comprehensive views of the track, so you don’t miss one minute of the action. After the race, you will meet your Roadtrips Host at a designated location for transportation back to your hotel.

After the excitement of today, we suggest having a relaxing dinner at Napolese. This artisanal pizzeria offers artfully crafted pizza created from only the finest locally sourced ingredients, all complemented by an impressive list of wines and craft beer to enjoy. Their downtown location is located just a few minutes’ walk from your hotel, and is a great place to unwind on your last evening in Indianapolis.

Day 5 – Monday, May 29, 2023indy racetrack
This morning, enjoy your sumptuous breakfast one last time in the luxury of the Conrad Indianapolis before preparing to return home. When you’re ready, your chauffeur will be ready and waiting to transfer you to the airport and your journey home.
