Overview
The Pinnacle of the Champions League Season
London’s Wembley Stadium will be the centre of attention this spring as the 56th UEFA Champions League season final is played in England’s capital. The country hasn’t seen a final match on home soil since 2002-03, when Juventus lost to Milan at Old Trafford in Manchester. But Wembley is well prepared for a large crowd, as the renovations completed in 2007 make the stadium a 90,000-seat venue. Wembley is also used to being the centre of attention in European football, as this will the sixth European Cup hosted by the London stadium; a record among football club stadiums throughout the continent.
One of the most sought after trophies in all of football, the European Champion Club’s Cup has been a staple of football excellence for decades. Only a handful of clubs have won it more than once, and with 76 clubs competing for their chance starting last July, it’s no wonder the world will be watching to see hosts it above their heads this spring.
