Venues
Russia's largest resort city, Sochi, is located along the coast of the Black Sea near the Caucasus Mountains. Considering the lovely scenery along the impressive mountainous coastline and the mild winter temperatures, Sochi is a perfect location for the 2014 Winter Games. Olympic spectators will come from all over the globe to enjoy what will be the most compact Winter Games in history. Fans will be able to hop from one venue to another within minutes, making it easier than ever to go to multiple events in one day. Sochi is building a total of eleven brand new venues in order to host the games. These venues are divided into two areas - the coastal cluster and the mountain cluster. Both clusters are within 48 km of one another, which will be a 30 minute trip on the new railway.
The Coastal Cluster - Olympic Park
Located by the Black Sea coast in the Imeretin Valley, the Olympic Park will connect to all the coastal venues and all will be within walking distance of each other. When its full, the Olympic Park will be able to hold up to 70,000 visitors. The Olympic Village will be close by as well, being only a short walk from any of the competition venues. Ice Hockey, Speed Skating, Curling and Figure Skating will be taking place at these indoor venues as well as the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

The Mountain Cluster - Krasnaya Polyana
The ski resort area of Krasnaya Polyana in the Caucasus Mountains has many chalets, hotels, and restaurants and is the new home to five Olympic venues. All the outdoor venues for the games are located at the Mountain Cluster and will be used for sports like Biathlon, Bobsleigh, Skeleton, Luge, Skiing and Snowboarding. There will be a second Olympic Village located here which will be approximately 15 minutes away from the competition venues.
