Kentucky Derby Optional Add-ons
There’s always a lot going on in Louisville on Derby weekend. In particular, the day before the Kentucky Derby is full of exciting events and there are plenty of ways to enhance your Derby experience. Take a look below for some of our favorite ways to spend Derby eve.
Derby Eve Distilled Party
Kick off Derby weekend with an authentic Kentucky experience! This fun evening includes transportation to and from Buffalo Trace Distillery where you will enjoy an after hours distillery tour, bourbon tastings, a bourbon-inspired dinner and cocktails, a live bluegrass band and optional cigars on the porch. It’s a fun way to spend Derby eve and immerse yourself in the local culture.
The Kentucky Oaks is one of the biggest races in the country, and the most lucrative for 3-year-old fillies. It has a long history dating back to 1875 and is a great way to get yourself into the Derby spirit. In addition to the great racing, it also includes the Kentucky Oaks Fashion Contest, where ladies of all ages walk the pink carpet in their finest attire. Pink is the color of the day in honor of both the Oaks’ official flower (the stargazer lily) and their charity, Horses & Hope, so make sure to think pink when choosing your outfit!
Barnstable Brown Gala
The legendary Barnstable Brown Party is Derby weekend’s hottest event. This exclusive black-tie gala is attended by some of the biggest names in film, television, music, fashion, and sport. The celebrity guest list is always long and it’s the place to see and be seen on Derby eve. The event will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2018 and you can bet it will be one unforgettable night!
