In just under three months we are going to be taking hockey fans to the most exciting event to happen in years – the World Cup of Hockey. Not only are we excited to go to Toronto in September because some of the biggest names in hockey are going to be there playing their very best, but also because we love Toronto. Here are three reasons why this city is so cool, and you should come with us for this epic event.
Toronto is a sports fan’s dream. Locals are incredibly dedicated to their teams, and with the crazy success that the Blue Jays have had in the past year they’ve got to show the world just how much that is true. Then there’s the Raptors, whose biggest fan/ ambassador Drake has been spreading the love for big time. And hockey? Home team The Maple Leafs are much adored in the city, and the World Cup of Hockey will be played in their home arena, the Air Canada Centre. To say that the city is abuzz over this event would be a serious understatement.
While in Toronto, Hockey fans can visit the Hockey Hall of Fame where they’ll find a museum dedicated to the most amazing players that have ever been, as well as exhibits showcasing memorabilia and lots of other neat hockey gear.
If you love a good sports bar, then Real Sports Bar and Grill is pretty cool – it seats 1000 and has the biggest high-def TV screen in Canada (two stories high, in fact). There are plenty of other great sports bars in Toronto too, that offer up excellent food and drink on a smaller scale, such as the Amsterdam Brewhouse that sits on the lake and has an excellent menu to go with its craft beers, or the Dock Ellis, which has a cool hipster vibe and runs on a smaller scale.
Toronto has a lot of character. When you first arrive in Toronto it can seem a little like any other major city, but once you’ve checked out the views from the top of the CN Tower, strolled trendy Queen Street West browsing hip little boutiques and galleries, or soaked up the cool vibe at one of the city’s beaches, you get to see just how much personality this city has. The World Cup of Hockey gives you the perfect reason to visit and find out.
Yes, this is the largest city in Canada, but visitors find it charming and friendly despite its size. Toronto has been described as a city of neighborhoods, and this is true, but getting around is really easy whether you like to stroll through cities, use transit or just taxi it everywhere.
The food is amazing. If you love to eat, then Toronto is the city for you. No matter what type of cuisine you’re into, you’ll find it here. Want fine dining experiences? Six of the ten best restaurants in Canada are in Toronto. Love street food and hole in the wall places? Kensington Market is a neighborhood known for its huge number of cafes, restaurants, bakeries, and any other kind of eatery you could think of. You’ll find great food all over the city. Toronto is an amazing food destination, and just gets better and better all the time.
Convinced that you need to come with us yet? We’ll set you up in the best hotels, and put you in the best seats in the house for the final or whatever games you want to attend. Want to follow your team through the tournament? We can help you with that too.
