It has been almost twelve years since there was a World Cup of Hockey. Back in 2004, Canada beat out Finland to win the gold, with the final played in Toronto. Next year, from September 17th through October 1st, the tournament will happen once more in Toronto, and the very best players in the world will represent their home countries and slog it out to take the gold home.

For hockey fans, it just doesn’t get more exciting than this. The World Cup of Hockey is organized by the NHL and follows their rules. Because the tournament takes place before the regular hockey season starts, the world’s very best players are available, and playing, which leads to some very exciting line-ups.

Having the event is Toronto is fantastic for fans, not only because there is such a huge amount of love for the game in this, the largest city in Canada, but also because Toronto is such a fun city to visit. Toronto has absolutely superb restaurants, amazing entertainment venues, a rich cultural history, and plenty of neat attractions to check out while you’re in town (both sporting and otherwise).

The event is organized like this: There are eight teams organized into two groups. In Group A is Team Canada, Team USA, Team Czech Republic, and Team Europe – an all-star team made up of players from European countries outside of Sweden, Finland, Russia, and the Czech Republic. In Group B is Team Sweden, Team Finland, Team Russia, and Team North America – another all-star team made up of players who are under 23 as of October 1st, 2016.

On September 20th fans will see Team USA and Team Canada face off, and this will no doubt be the most highly anticipated early game in many fans’ minds. The rivalry between these two North American teams is legendary, and we anticipate demand for tickets for this game being high (don’t worry, we have the best tickets ready to go). But then, all those other teams are excellent too, so whoever moves forward is bound to put on quite a show. The World Cup of Hockey is a chance for the best of the best to represent their countries, and show just why they deserve to be exactly where they are.

This is going to be an incredible event to attend, and we’ve secured the best tickets to all the games, so that you can follow your team, or go right through to the finals. Our 2016 World Cup of Hockey Packages take care of everything, putting you up in the very best hotels, getting you everything you need at the games, and organizing extras such as entry to the Hockey Hall of Fame and even Blue Jays tickets if you’d like to add a little baseball action to your trip.
