The Twelve Sports Travel Gifts of Christmas

What can you get for that hard to buy for sports fan this Christmas? Why not surprise them with a bucket list worthy sports trip that is sure to have them more excited than even the kids are when they rip into their presents on Christmas morning.

Here are twelve 2016 sports travel events that we could package up into an awesome gift for your loved ones:

1) Summer Games in Rio. Next August you could be at the world’s most exciting sports event, where the very best in their field compete to win gold for their country. There’s quite simply nothing like the Summer Games, and Rio is set to host them in style. We love this city, and have some excellent accommodations and packages available for this fantastic event.

2) Super Bowl 50. There is no bigger deal for football fans than the Super Bowl, and next year’s will be a big one as the event celebrates its half-century anniversary. Make the football fan on your nice list happy by sending them to Santa Clara to watch it played out right there before them instead of on a TV screen. The Super Bowl runs from February 4th through 8th, and we’ve got lots of cool add-ons we can offer to make the trip extra special.

3) Daytona 500. This prestigious event is the highlight of the NASCAR calendar, and being there is such a super cool experience. Bonus: You get great weather in February in beautiful, sunny Florida, making this a great trip for those living in colder climates.

4) World Cup of Hockey. After a 12 year hiatus, this epic tournament is back, and will be held in Toronto from September 17th through October 1st. Toronto is a super cool city to visit, with beautiful hotels, wonderful restaurants, and plenty to see and do. We’ve already scored the best tickets for all the Canada and USA games, and can create a custom package that shows off the best of the host destination.

5) Monaco Grand Prix. Heading to Monte Carlo for the Grand Prix is such an incredible adventure for any auto racing fan, and definitely a firm favorite amongst the Roadtrips team. This glamorous race through the architecturally beautiful streets of this tiny principality is such fun to watch, and lends itself to so many excellent experiences around the race too. Next year it is happening from May 26th to 30th, and we can organize a simply brilliant trip for whoever you think deserves this big a treat.

6) Wimbledon. Wouldn’t the tennis fan in your life just adore drinking Pimm’s and noshing on strawberries and cream courtside as they watch the biggest names in the game fighting it out? It’s happening from June 26th through July 6th, and that will be a great time of year to visit London and take in the sights there as part of your trip.

7) Champions League Final. What better excuse for a dream trip to Italy than to go there to watch some of the very best soccer clubs in the world battle for the European Champions Cup. We have great tickets, and will set you up with the best hotels and a personalized itinerary that meets all your needs and desires. (May 26th through 29th.)

8) British Open. Next July take your beloved to the country where golf began, Scotland, and watch the best players in the world compete at the historic Royal Troon Golf Club. We can add on a few rounds at Scotland’s finest old clubs to complete your trip, and enjoy the very best that this country has to offer while you’re there.

9) MLB All Star Game. Hosted in always-sunny California next July, the MLB All Star Game is always so much fun to attend as you get to see the very best baseball players in the world do their thing. Plus, we can tack on tickets to the All Star Legends and Celebrity Softball Game so you can see some of the biggest names in entertainment hit the diamond (we got a real kick out of Snoop Dogg being there last year).

10) Kentucky Derby. Definitely one for the bucket list, the Kentucky Derby is so much fun, and we absolutely love taking guests there every year. We’ll get you to Churchill Downs in May and show you the best time. Be sure to pack your big hat, and be ready to sip on some bourbon.

11) Stanley Cup Finals. The ultimate event in hockey sees the best teams in the NHL slog it out, and it is always fantastic to watch live. In June we’ll get you to game 3 or 4 of the finals, and put you up in great accommodations in the host city.

12) Italian Grand Prix. Head to Monza (just outside of Milan) for a superb Formula 1 experience next September. This is one of the fastest tracks in the world, which is just one reason why racing fans love coming here, and it is in such a special destination to visit.
