We’ve got a truly stellar range of properties available for our 2016 Summer Games Rio guests. We are especially proud that we’ve secured gorgeous rooms and suites at the Relais & Châteaux Santa Teresa, an absolutely stunning property in a bohemian hillside neighborhood that looks down over the city.
The Santa Teresa was once a coffee plantation mansion, and its renovation into a sophisticated world-class luxury hotel has taken none of the historic charm from the property. We adore bringing guests to the Santa Teresa, and wanted to share what makes this property so very special.
You enter the Santa Teresa through huge wrought iron gates, and there it is, a colonial mansion that is just as impressive inside and out. No attention to detail is spared, and as old-fashioned as the place looks from the outside, inside you’ll find the most modern amenities, and important luxuries such as king-sized beds brought in from North America, while pretty much everything else in the property has been sourced locally.
Muted tones throughout perfectly complement the natural indigenous wood or burnt-cement floors of the guest rooms, which are accented with contemporary artworks, huge wood-framed mirrors, and fresh orchids, which of course scent the rooms so beautifully.
Every room and suite at the Santa Teresa is just stunning, but the impressive Loft Suite really is something else. Taking up the entire top floor of the property, this suite offers 360-degree views out over Guanabara Bay, Sugarloaf, and the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue (a telescope is provided to maximize on the views offered). There’s a wrap around porch too, and huge living areas to make your stay so wonderfully comfortable.
The Santa Teresa Hotel Le Spa is a gorgeous little spa offering a range of luxurious treatments using Brazilian organic aromatherapy products, but also a Hammam sauna and Japanese soaking tubs, as well as various beautiful areas to relax or get a massage.
We get excited about eating at at Térèze, the hotel’s much adored restaurant that is famed as much for its incredible views out over the city as it is its exquisite and innovative cuisine. The restaurant boasts more than 200 selections on its wine list, and a superb cocktail menu too.
There is also a sexy hotel bar, Bar Dos Descasados, which is housed in the mansion’s former slave quarters which we are turning into our hospitality lounge for the Games, and a Veuve Clicquot champagne bar poolside (oh yes, and the pool is gorgeous too).
The Santa Teresa offers glamour and sophistication in a beautiful setting, and will offer our guests a luxurious retreat to retire to when they aren’t watching the games or exploring Rio de Janeiro.
