Canada World Cup Cities

Six Amazing Canadian Cities Host This Year’s Women’s World Cup

Planning out our Women’s World Cup packages has been especially exciting for us as we love having the opportunity to show-off our home country. Matches are taking place in six beautiful and markedly different Canadian cities – Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal, and Moncton – and we wanted to use this week’s blog to give you a quick intro to all of them.

Vancouver truly is one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Situated on the Pacific Ocean and surrounded by mountains, locals like to boast that this is one of the few places in the world where you can ski in the morning, then sunbathe on the beach in the afternoon. Besides the awesome natural beauty and associated activities in the city and around it, cuisine here is world class, there are incredible hotels, the nightlife is fun, and whether you’re into indie boutiques or designer labels the shopping is amazing.

Edmonton is a big city with a small town feel, and has some very different activities to offer visitors when they’re not watching soccer. The immense West Edmonton Mall is a fun trip – it has its own massive waterpark, ice-rink, and mini-golf to name just a few of the quirky attractions. There are artistic and cultural centres to visit, including Canada’s largest living history museum Fort Edmonton Park where the movie The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford was shot, and huge National Parks to explore.

Winnipeg is Roadtrips’ home city, and we are thrilled to be able to showcase the rich artistic and cultural experiences on offer, including the brand new Canadian Museum of Human Rights, vibrant area The Forks which offers an array of great restaurants, nightlife and artistic happenings, The Exchange District historical neighbourhood with its mesh of old and new architecture and amazing places to eat and enjoy, and much more. We love it here, and know you will too.

Ottawa is our nation’s capital, and so much fun to explore. From the Byward Market area with its innovative fine dining restaurants, gourmet stores, market, and boutiques, to various national museums showing our countries history and artistic/ cultural contributions, and excellent nightlife, a visit to Ottawa never disappoints.

Montreal has such a unique feel compared to the rest of Canada. Very European, with well-dressed beautiful citizens at sidewalk cafes and indulging in decadent dining, surrounded by stunning old-world architecture, the city is very sophisticated and offers a wonderful alternate view of our country. Montreal is wonderful, and you can’t help but fall in love with the city when you visit.

Moncton is the smallest host city, offering smaller-scale activities and opportunities that give you a real taste for the Acadian culture that is so strong in the area. Beautiful Parlee Beach is a popular local spot, and there are wonderful places to get close to nature all around the city. There’s a fun waterpark, unique dining opportunities, and a sweet city centre to explore.
