The 2014 Ryder Cup golf tournament is being held at the end of September on the PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles in Scotland. Next year will mark the 40th anniversary of this incomparable golf tournament, pitting the best from Europe against the best from the United States in what is certain to be a truly unforgettable event. This course is one of three at Gleneagles, and was designed by Jack Nicklaus, measuring 7262 yards. Gleneagles is located about one hour outside of Edinburgh.
There are 28 total points available from all the different matches that are played. To win the cup, a team must earn 14 ½ points, but for the defending champ to retain it only 14 points are required. It’s plain to see from the very first drive that both teams are playing for pride and they take the competition very seriously.
