Here at Roadtrips, we’re excited about the World Cup in Brazil for many reasons and the food is certainly one of them. Back in March, Roadtrips President Dave Guenther compiled a list of his favorite restaurants in Rio. Since then, Dave has spent plenty of time in Brazil and has found a few more gems to add to the list. Below, in his words, are four more of the best restaurants Rio has to offer.
TT Burger – Burgers (Aproador)
Rio’s most famous restauranteur, Claude Troisgros, has joined forces with his son to open a simple hamburger stand. Simple might define the basic premises and short menu (just burgers, fries, drinks and milkshakes) but less so is the fifty year old Troisgros family secret burger recipe. Although I prefer mine without the house made smokey sweet ketchup, this was still easily the best burger I’ve had in Brazil.
Giuseppe Grill – Steak/Seafood (Leblon and Centro)
Excellent steak and seafood grill that features top quality meats, fresh seafood and shellfish (displayed a la Milos in New York or Miami on a large table of ice) in an elegant setting. To start, the house specialty pao de quiejo sticks are a delicious appetizer. There’s an extensive wine cellar and a beautiful private room for up to 40 guests on the lower level. Part of the BestFork group of restaurants.
